“We have a responsibility to protect your data, and if we can’t then we don’t deserve to serve you” – Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
In light of the recent Facebook user data breach involving a Trump-connected data-mining firm Cambridge Analytica, Facebook CEO has to clarify the situation and outline steps to improve user data in future.
We used our social media management software, myRosys, to gauge talks on social media around this #FacebookDataBreach issue and analyzed the user sentiments. Here are out findings:
1. Word Cloud – It shows the prominent keywords used on social media platforms for this data breach that happened. Clearly, Cambridge Analytica (Analytics firm based out of UK) is being used prominently on social media platforms.
2. Sentiment Analysis – Analysis of posts shows a neutral sentiment of users, whereas word sentiment analysis shows a negative sentiment.
3. Top Liked Posts – Posts on Instagram got large number of likes and engagement by the users.
4. Top Retweeted posts: Top retweeted posts show the political and personal level discussions that erupted due to this data breach and the common concerns of Facebook users.
How Facebook deals with this data breach is yet to be seen, but surely they have a very tough task of restoring users’ faith in their platform and to ensure them about the security of their personal data available with the platform.
